How to Nominate a Colleague
Nominations for the 2021 HIVMA Leadership Awards are due August 13, 2021. Nominators and nominees must be members of HIVMA. Awards are presented at IDWeek. Awardees receive a $1,500 honorarium.
HIVMA Research Award
Submission Requirements
Nominators should address each of the following criteria in the online nomination form, including examples when appropriate. Nominees must actively be engaged in HIV research and must be junior to mid-career, such as an associate professor or its equivalent for an institution without a formal academic rank. The award will be based on innovation and originality and require demonstration of significant independent research (such as success in securing independent peer-reviewed grant funding) and productivity (such as publications in peer-reviewed journals).
- Demonstration of independent research (as evidenced by ability to obtain grant funding)
- Productivity (as evidenced in publications in peer-reviewed journals)
- Innovation and originality
- Impact on the field of HIV research
Additional Instructions
- Please include the nominee’s curriculum vitae, which should include research grant awards, and bibliography.
- One seconding nomination from an HIVMA member other than the nominee is required. No more than two nominations will be considered for each nominee.
- Standing HIVMA Board and Award Committee members are not eligible.
HIVMA Clinical Educator Award
Submission Requirements
Nominators should address each of the following criteria in the online nomination form, including examples when appropriate. The Clinical Educator Award recognizes HIVMA members who have demonstrated significant achievement in the area of HIV clinical care and provider education. Significant achievement will be based on overall achievement and refer to contributions to the acquisition and dissemination of information on HIV disease that transcend a single institution. Preference will be given to nominations that reflect a broad base of support including from outside their primary institution or practice setting.
- Demonstration of impact outside of one’s own institution or outreach to a group with unmet needs
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching
- Description of what audience was affected by the clinician educator and how they were affected-- whether inside or outside of the usual academic setting
- Evidence of originality and innovation in the area of clinical education. Please include no more than two examples of a curriculum, manuscript, book chapter or other educational materials that the nominee has developed
- Recognition in the area of patient care
